Terms of service
The agreement between you and Storygarden. Written to be read, not to be survived.
Last updated: 1 September 2026.
The short version
- Your memories are yours. We claim no ownership of them.
- If you stop paying, nothing is deleted. The app becomes read-only and you can still export everything.
- You must be an adult, and you must have the right to save what you save.
- If somebody leaves a comment you do not want, you can hide it, delete it, and remove their access.
Who can use it
You must be 18 or older, or the age of majority where you live. You confirm this when you create an account. Children do not have accounts.
Your account
Keep your sign-in details to yourself. You are responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us if you think somebody else has got into it.
What you save
You own it. Your photographs, videos, recordings, and words remain yours. We claim no ownership and no right to use them for anything except running the service for you — storing them, showing them to you, and delivering them to people you have chosen to share with.
We do not use what you save to train models, and we do not sell it. Nothing you save appears in marketing.
You are responsible for having the right to save what you save. For photographs of other people's children, that means their parents' agreement.
What you may not do
- Anything illegal, and in particular anything that sexualises or exploits a child. We report this and remove the account.
- Use somebody else's material without the right to.
- Harass or abuse another person through a comment or an invitation.
- Try to reach data belonging to another account, or interfere with the service.
- Resell the service, or use it to run one of your own.
Comments and reactions
Comments are off unless you turn them on for a particular share. When they are on, the person who owns the memory is in charge of them: you can hide a comment, delete it, and remove that person's access entirely.
Every comment passes an automatic check before it is visible, and anything doubtful waits for you rather than appearing and being taken down afterwards. Anyone can report a comment, and reports come to you. We will act on a report sent to support@story-garden.app — including removing content and closing accounts.
Paying
Storygarden is free to try. A one-time purchase unlocks the full app; some additional capabilities are sold separately. Prices are shown before you buy, in your own currency.
On iPhone and Android, purchases are handled by Apple and Google and are subject to their terms. On the web, by Stripe. Refunds for a purchase made through Apple or Google are handled by them — we cannot issue those ourselves. For a purchase made on the web, write to us.
Where anything is sold as a subscription, it renews until you cancel, and you cancel through whichever store you bought it from. The renewal date and price are shown before you buy.
If you stop paying
Nothing is deleted, and nothing is held hostage. If a subscription lapses, your memories stay exactly where they are. You can still open them, still look at everything, and still export the lot. What you cannot do is add new ones until you renew.
This is a deliberate promise about a product that holds a family's photographs. A service that deletes a childhood over a failed payment is not one anybody should trust with a childhood.
Ending it
You can delete your account at any time, from Settings or from the web. Deletion removes your data as described in the privacy policy, and it cannot be undone — export first if you want a copy.
We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, particularly for anything involving the exploitation of a child. Where we reasonably can, we will tell you first and give you a chance to export.
If we ever shut the service down, we will give you notice and time to export everything.
Changes to the service
The app will change. If we remove something you rely on, or change these terms in a way that matters, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect.
The legal part
The service is provided as it is. We work hard to keep it available and correct, but we do not promise it will never be unavailable or never contain an error. Keep your own copies of anything irreplaceable — the export exists for exactly this.
To the extent the law allows, our liability to you is limited to what you have paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing here limits liability that cannot legally be limited, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
These terms are governed by the laws of the place the service is operated from, and you may also have rights under the law of your own country that these terms do not affect.
